About Me!!!

Not done this before....I've been on the net for a LONG while, have an computing degree and am more used to normal web sites. However the aims of this is to be a chronological journey detailing some of my ideas and hopefully practical solutions so it appears ideally suited to a blog.

I'm currently 45, reasonably successful, run a small family manufacturing business which pays the bills. I own a slightly odd, tall, end of terrace house and live with my cat!

Whilst i put average Joe in the description, i doubt any of my friends would say that about me! I'm 6'4" with a suave moustache and couldn't blend into a crowd if I tried! I'm a gothic alternative and run arround the country to clubs, pubs and festivals in my spare time. I'm also a bit of tech geek and have a passion for cinema. My lifestyle is probably far from average in that sense, however in terms of this site, I have a job, a salary, a car, a house, a load of appliances and a whole load of choices that everyone can make and in that sense i'm pretty normal, just like an average Joe, just called Lee!!!

My car

My Car - I've a 2005 Audi A8 D3 4.2 petrol V8 (288 g/km). It's a nice car and i've had it about 3 years and it's always been pretty good to me, but I've been looking at changing it for a while. Since I used to have an older version of the S8 I've been keeping an eye on the market with an idea of upgrading. I've almost done it a couple of times, going to look at cars but never quite being happy with the ones I've seen. Following this journey i've had a look at the specs of the Audi D3 V10 S8 in a bit of a different light and at 319 g/km emissions, i'm just not sure I can afford that! The ~£500 tax isn't the bit that bothers me, nor the poor fuel economy because I could afford the money to run it. Carbon Self Tax

We do a German festival each year. It is one of the highlights of our calendar and it is amazing. Leipzig is deep in Germany and whilst technically, ferry & drive, it would take at least an extra day each way. Alas due to work I'm limited in the length of time I can take off. The festival is on the edge of this in terms of time already. It is plausible to train it, particularly if you live in London. We don't so it adds getting to London, then multiple trains to get to Leipzig. We both had back issues and tend to limit lifting and shifting of heavy cases as much as possible. It would be a very long day of lifting and shifting to do the train. Also having a rough look (eurostar is only 3 months bookable) at costs it is double plus! Flying takes two flights. Birmingham to probably Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Halle. It is the way we did last year after the Stanstead direct to Halle stopped running. 2021 - Another odd year

Haven't done a massive amount. Not really gone anywhere, again! Green - My energy supplier went pop recently and Ofgem are moving me to Shell. WHOOP. Can't say i'll be staying there for very long, but it is also a wait until moved situation! Trine - I've still got a three loans that are Delayed and Restructuring post Covid which is probably to be expected. The good news is they've not been written off, but nor has much happened with them. To my mind they were always a gamble, and if the money came back then it would be rolled back in and if it didn't then I'd helped people and offset the carbon anyway. I actually added some Euros that were in a Revolut account from prior traveling and i'm up to about E800 overall.  Tesla have been silly in terms of a massive run up, which is VERY nice, though funds are mostly locked up too due to tax issues and personal circumstances!
